Two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is will be played during the trip. Before India’s World Test Championship (WTC) starts with the much-anticipated Test matches, let’s look back at some of the most memorable games played by Indian batters in the Caribbean.
2016: Virat Kohli gets 200 runs at North Sound
When the two teams met at North Sound in 2016, Virat Kohli led from the front and scored 200. This was his first 200 in a Test, and it was the first time an Indian captain had done it.
India scored 566 runs in the first innings thanks to Kohli’s brilliant performance. He only needed 283 balls to hit 24 home runs. In the end, Kohli’s magic helped India win by an innings and 92 runs.
Virender Sehwag, 180 runs at Gros Islet, 2006
India’s first innings score was 588/8, which was a huge number. Virender Sehwag hit 180 runs off only 190 balls, which helped India get to that score.
The home team was put under pressure by an innings that had 20 fours and two sixes. After getting 215 in their first innings, they had to keep going. In their second innings, they scored 294/7, which was enough for a tie.
The home team scored 296 runs in the first innings, and India had trouble right away when their opener VVS Laxman was out for a duck.
His partner Navjot Sidhu then worked with the always reliable Rahul Dravid (57) to settle the ship. He then hit a very patient 201 before being bowled by Curtly Ambrose.
India scored 436 points, mostly because of Sidhu’s work, but the game finished in a tie.
Dilip Sardesai, 212 runs at Kingston, 1970-71
Dilip Sardesai played 470 balls and made 212 runs, saving India from a top-order collapse in the first innings of the 1st Test.
India was able to score 387 runs. In response, India kept the hosts to 217 runs and pushed them to go on. But the home team did much better in the second innings and held on for a draw by scoring 385/5 at the end of the game.
Sunil Gavaskar got 220 runs at Port of Spain in 1970-71
In the same series as Sardesai’s 212, one of the best innings ever played by an Indian batsman on West Indian land took place.

Sunil Gavaskar, the young starter, scored 220 runs in the second innings. He had already scored 124 runs in the first innings in Port of Spain.
Gavaskar’s hit was a great example of how his career would go for the next fifteen years. During his time, he broke 22 rules.
